Is it worth getting my compter repaired?

Of course it depends on the cost of repairing it, a new cooling fan will be quite cheap but to have it put in may cost a fair amount of money and you will need to weigh up the value of either option, I am lucky, I repair my own computers and have kept an old "I,Friend laptop" going for years, it is too slow now so it does not get used often, I prefer a desk top computer because they are easy to upgrade and it is connected to my printer, scanner, speakers and everything else that I use, I have nice big monitor, extra hard drives and two DVD writers with light-scribe facility, unless you actually need the option of taking a computer out of the house, I would always recommend a desk top computer, taking apart a laptop computer is not that difficult but it can be a bit fiddly, if you have a friend that is willing to give it a go, replacing the fan is quite straight forward once the case is open and should be successful, you do have to accept that a friend will not be able to repair it though but what have you got to lose? it is no good as it is now and can be repaired quite cheaply, so, you need to know the price of repairing it using a specialist, the price of buying the fan and doing it yourself and the cost of a new laptop weigh these up and make your choice.
