Blue Gill Fish tank Advice?

Hey i have a blue gill that i caught at a local park.. hes been in a fish tank for over 3 months and is really healthy... i was just wondering though... will i be able to put fake aquarium plants in there with him because i heard he will uproot them a lot? thanks
