Is a 512Kbps connection enough to play Wii games like Mario Kart online?

I have a 512 Kbps connection. Im not sure whether thats it but when I download a file, I get it at about 50 kilobytes per second. I'm thinking of getting a wireless router and converting the exisitng connection into a home WiFi. So would this spped be enough to play Wii games online, like Mario kart or Super smash bros.
