Confusing pap test?

In July of last year I had a pap smear (my first one and almost ped out) it came back that I had I think it was hsv type 2, my doctor said it is not an std and to go back and get chekced because it could be the start pf cervical cancer. Can anyone tell me abit more about it. I dont have warts or anything like that. DO you think I have cancer? Or you knoe it could even be HPV type 2?
